UNAUN- Unified Nations Anti-Unilateral Action Navy
To be created later will be a digital magazine that will distribute content for free. Ideally, this endeavor will be supported by sponsors. I hope to find assistance from peace-oriented organizations that don't feel threatened by this site and that are not so beholden to establishment interests that they are precluded from supporting this site.
Content will cover:
- Searching for ways to bring the course of humanity to a safer heading
- Exploring whether the current military preparedness for war or "skirmishes" is a self-serving or self-fulling, or is moderately wasteful posturing (due to negligent domestic energy policies inspiring nations to jockey for limited global resources) that is largely obsolete in the global economy of today
- Assessing the likelihood of China ever actually *needing* to invade Taiwan (consider: current domestic policies induce many companies to relocate assets and resources to the Mainland, leaving only token or fiction offices on the Island; many people on both sides eventually want reunification, each side expection its own conditions to be met with little compromise; Mainland China, given the economic power, political connections, and civilian disinterest in destruction and war, some would argue that it would to the Mainland no good to demolish its own and the Island's personnel, fighting vehicles, and civilian infrastructure; given China's trademark patience in many areas, it is likely that the Mainland will just "wait it out" until the Island has increasing economic demand fulfilled by/from the Mainland, better ties, and the Mainland gains "de facto" control of the economy and policy making on both sides of the straits (China could pull a "confuse the hell out of them (confusing the West, that is)" maneuver simply by "declaring peace and non-hostility" toward the Island, then making sure that for at least 4 or 8 years is never conducts military exercises in the straits, and/or by inviting Taiwanese official to participate aboard Mainland ships that deploy on international missions, provided neither side feels a need to demand face)
- Exploring the options to stabilizing and including North Korea, demilitarizing the nearest outposts north and south of the DMZ, and helping speed up reunification between the North and South, possibly by a number of surprising and deep-penetration food drops directly into the provinces and villages needing food; if enough GPS/Wi-FI tagged humanitarian drops are tracked by world monitors, it could prove damaging, incriminating and embarrassing for North Korea (or name another country) to deliberately retrieve and hoard or destroy the monitored aid
- Disposing of or suspending or renouncing own-nation citizenship rights and responsibilities and privileges while sailing as part of UNAUN, and convincing the World Body that nationalism, sovereignty, bullying market conduct, selfish trade demands, and such are hurting the progress of humanity
- Recruiting/installing Prospective Commanding and Prospective Executive Officers from various nations while bypassing retaliatory or myopic or selfish post-discharge restrictions by nations offended at the notion of their former ship drivers "switching allegiances" to serve in a higher-ideals navy or maritime police force
- Internationalizing naval police forces such that Enlisted personnel become the role models for all other navies and militaries
- Examining the obstacles delaying global unified naval police forces (national pride, anger, resentment, and more), other than lack of access to economic participation
- Exploring the merits of "deprecating all power-projecting nations' flag-waving navies into nothing more than own-shore coastal patrol units" and the agonies and bitterness to be felt by navies that are to be cut out of missions and made superfluous by their own nation's existing Coast Guard keeping their own legitimate missions which domestic navies are not allocated
- Exploring the "By-design/by-policy" restriction of naval weaponry to ranges of say 100 NM for surface-to-air engagements and 50 NM for surface-to-surface engagements, and 75 NM for subsurface engagements
- Exploring World body willingness to adopt the attitude *of* and providing powers and missions *to* UNAUN to monitor, record, report, pursue, interdict, detain, bombard, board, and take in tow, as well as detain, arrest, charge, and transport the key officers of ships of ANY nation engaging in hostile, belligerent, retaliatory, vindictive, or corporate/nationalism agenda or bullying upon nations unable to defend themselves
- World Body assertiveness to terminate existing global navies of "high seas pursuits" once the fleeping (rightfully or wrongfull fleeing) party has arrived to within 125 NM of ANY nation not the pursuer's national waters
- Conducting moving, at-sea courts/tribunals/trials aboard so-configured vessels when no nation wants to host a "hot/dangerous" trial ashore
- Using UNAUN in reflagging/escort operations and empowering UNAUN vessels to fire upon and compel the "standing to" of naval ships of ANY nation when said ships are engaging in intimidation "fishing expeditions" upon numerous nations
- Optimizing weapons loadout and hull mission adaptability and optimizations in order to assume the role
- Exploring the history of maritime/naval humanitarian at-sea rescues for victims displaced by natural disasters, political upheavals, and the like
- Assigning unisex berthing; heads without urinals, modern shower stalls, privacy (not necessarily but not forbidding conjugal) booths
- Commenting the history and schizoid psychology of referring to ships as "she" while also
referring to them as "men of war" juxtaposed with discriminatory,
dangerous and condemnatory policies such as "Don't ask, Don't Tell"
(instead of a more rational, fair and humane policy that could simply
require: "Keep your conjugal acts to: your age group, among consenting
adults, to humans, to non-minors, and to non-injurious, non-adulterous
modes" ) (Hell, parts of Africa, China, Taiwan, the UK, South Korea and many other nations in Asia and Europe have had female leaders, prime ministers, presidents, and vice presidents; yet we here in the US have NEVER had even a femal VICE president. Too damned much patriarchal holdover...(Oh, and ONE "King" in China (way back when) was actually female, but referred to herself as "King"...))
- How shipyards are selected as prime builders/contractors
- How to internationally build ship modules and components
- How to create a functional crewing matrix given the multitude of languages, cultures, and political origins
- Involving students of naval architecture (under the guidance of open-minded naval architects) to evaluate, re-design or modify my ship designs to assess their "buildabilty" and seaworthiness
- UNAUN engagement of any unidentified or unauthorized submarines, submarines, swimmers, probes, mammalian surveillance, and so forth by directly taking them under fire initially to compel their surfacing to force them to be recorded for global viewing, but secondarily, should such craft or device wantonly refuse to surface) cripple, and if necessary, DESTROY such vessels and devices once the territorial, defense, or economic exclusion zones of the offended nation have been breached, the intruded upon nation notified of the breach, and the victim/intruded upon nation nation authorizes (case by case or by standing order to sanitize) or orders the nearest UNAUN vessel to prosecuted the offending craft or vessel; It is assumed that warning shots will be either required nor desired, in order for UNAUN vessels to effectively sanitize intruding scourges, and hopefully demoralized them into not returning in future
Content will NOT:
- Glamorize individual military, political, or similar "war heroes"
- Apologize for or pander to manifest destiny, self-determination, or Freedom of the Seas, or "Right of free (armed/hostile) Passage"
- Support or condone UNILATERAL OR COERCED action involving shore bombardment, force landing, ship board searches and seizures, or the like
UNAUN WILL NOT:
- Name vessels for controversial humans or for war "heroes" or key political figures (instead deferring to natural sites or wonders such as oceans, prominent terrain features not assigned political names or value; alternatively, all UNAUN vessels will be described and hailed by their pennant numbers if that averts the political rancor associated with naming vessels after cites and figures)
OTHER:
Additionally, there will be a naval fiction section as well as a naval terms section to bring up-to-date those aspiring to write naval fiction but who feel bewildered by naval/military terminology or lack of understanding of sea duty and prolonged at-sea time.
