Otaku-organized, insanely-detailed naval/maritime ship environment... In whose navy do you want to serve today?

One project of mine will be the design of a notional replacement for a humanitarian organization's ageing, fuel-hungry, slow vessel. I'm not an architect, but I find it dismaying that a vessel so important (as of February 23 2005) has not been replaced by the world body's wealthy nations. Here are some notional sketches...

Engineering hull of a catamaran humanitarian services craft. This has twin Auxialiary Propulsion/creeper motors pods forward on each hull, and single pods aft. The forward engine room has twin Kawasaki Rolls-Royce gas turbine engines in each hull. The after section's engine rooms can have diesels to save space for an optional flight deck. Main steering is via azimuthally steered propulsion pods.

The hulls are bridged forward. The "VLS" in the port hull is for the navalised version, whereas the starboard side shows a cargo hold which could be used to generate revenues via transportation of non-perishable goods along the rount and ports of call for this vessel.

Although the underwater body here is fatter than ideal for fast cruising, the wider pods could be useful for carrying large amounts of potable water for storm-ravaged areas or islands. Depending on cargo configuration, some cargoes might be able to fit down here... for example, grain or rice and other shapeless, sacked items.
